Alexis Zavros: Senior Mechanical Services Design Engineer
Chartered Building Services Engineer
BEng in Mechanical Engineering
Member of Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers
Alexis joined RPA in October 2016 having worked at other design consultancies for over ten years. Alexis became a Chartered Engineer through CIBSE in 2011.
Alexis has a broad level of consulting experience on a wide variety of buildings. Clients include London Underground Limited, Network Rail, Schools, Universities and Cambridge Colleges. He has gained extensive experience in coordinating designs with architects, electrical, structural and public health engineers.
Alexis’ role at RPA is to produce detailed heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and drainage designs. He is also responsible for supporting younger mechanical engineers develop their design and sustainability skills.
Bottisham Village College, Cambridge
Alexis is involved with the detailed mechanical services’ Revit design for a new extension at the College. He has worked extensively with the appointed mechanical contractor, electrical colleagues, architect and structural/civil engineers to produce a detailed and co-ordinated design.
Corpus Christi College, Cambridge
Alexis worked on the mechanical services design for a new student accommodation block at Corpus Christi. He designed a gas air source heat pump heating and hot water system. He thermally modelled the building to estimate the building energy and carbon dioxide emissions.
Clay Farm Centre, Cambridge
Alexis was involved with the initial design of this new community centre. The centre comprises of a community café and library, medical centre and top floor residences. Due to the mixed use of the building the service routes were complex requiring careful design on Revit. The medical centre was particularly challenging and required frequent meetings with medical centre design specialists, and careful adhesion to health technical memoranda (HTMs) when developing the design.
