James McFarlane: Assistant Electrical Design Engineer

James graduated in Building Services Engineering at the University of Nottingham and joined RPA Ltd Ltd in 2008 as a junior electrical engineer.
After working towards becoming a qualified electrician, James concluded that his abilities were more suited to design rather than installation.
Since joining RPA Ltd Ltd James found his ideal role as a part time assistant engineer supporting the electrical engineers with a variety of project based tasks. He is currently reseraching accousics to enable him to assist the mechanical engineers.
James is highly experienced with the lighting software package DIALux, conducts lighting protection risk assessments and works on BRREAM assessments.
A conscientious team player, James is popular with his RPA Ltd colleagues.

St John's College, Bath Court:
Bath Court involved the refurbishment of an existing changing room into male and female toilet facilities. James worked on the selection and testing of the lighting used for the project.
St John's College Cripps Building:
The Cripps Building is a Grade II listed student accommodation block that is under refurbishment in various stages. James worked on the initial stages in carrying out electrical load calculations.
Ripon College, Oxford:
James has been involved with lighting and BREEAM work for the new teaching block at Ripon.
Faculty of Classics Cambridge University:
James assisted with electrical load calculations, lighting design as well as site survey work.
